Think Ahead to Stay Ahead!

I always remind myself that one setback doesn’t mean it’s the end of the road, and one failure doesn’t mean that I’ll fail the next time. I’ve realized that by learning from my mistakes I can reduce the scope for further setbacks. I try to think of tasks that I can do differently and adjust my course to avoid making the same mistake next time.

One thing I have always done and continue to do is be honest about everything and keep the communication clear and open with my Manager. There can be things that I may see as upcoming impediments or obstacles in my work life. So, right from the beginning, I keep him or her in the loop of everything related to work.

I work with my team members at the grass root level, shoulder to shoulder. That said, I like being a coach to my team rather than just being a work delegator.

My Manager provides me with ample opportunities to take on new challenges. He trusts my approach towards any project and allows me to take decisions and execute them single-handedly.

I can always count on my family and friends for motivation when facing challenges at work. With a supportive family and house staff to manage home, I can do my bit, go the extra mile, look at the bigger picture and make an impact wherever I can and in whatever ways I can.

At Brillio, the management is very progressive thinking and look out for their employees’ growth. We are provided with all the amenities we need to succeed. Making the best use of that and paving way for success is in our hands. I believe that what goes around comes around, so give your best and the best will come back to you.

Trust the Process and Yourself

To make a difference and be a #GameChanger, one needs to grow, and growth needs continuous learning. And, at Brillio my colleagues and leaders have made sure I’ve got ample learning opportunities. The work culture is driven by innovation, diversity and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. As someone who has a hunger for learning and growth, it is really good to see new ideas being welcomed by the leadership team, and higher learning opportunities being provided across levels. In our day-to-day work, we are encouraged to take risks and learn from our mistakes.

More often than not, moving ahead includes dealing with challenges. In situations like this, I keep reminding myself of the people who inspire me and remind me that self-acknowledgment is the first step to finding solutions to problems. I thank my family and my amazing colleagues who notice my contributions and keep encouraging me to do my best. What I have learned from my inspirations and my experiences is that we must trust the process and ourselves.

Embracing Equality

When it comes to taking up multiple tasks at once and doing justice to all of them, I have observed that women show better progress. With engagements both at work and at home, they manage to make the best out of time. The perfect example I can think of is a leader who has been a #GameChanger for Brillio—Nayana Pai. Her passion for technology, customer centricity, consultative mindset, coupled with a strong commitment and perseverance, makes her an invaluable contributor.

Over the years, Nayana has grown from strength to strength at Brillio. From being a developer to now leading the practice efforts for a region in the US, she has been instrumental in winning many deals, building capability for the organization, and executing many complex engagements. She leads with a smile on her face and is a true inspiration. As Brillio continues to support and encourage quintessential employees like her, we will continue gaining strong women such as herself.

Putting Work-life Balance into Practice

The women at Brillio are enthusiastic, passionate, skilled, and focused individuals dedicated to bringing their best to the table. At Brillio, employees draw support from the diverse work environment which helps us be what we are meant to be—leaders, achievers, and champions.

Diversity runs within the Brillio ecosystem, and this can be seen through the way Brillians project their innate sense of collaboration within teams. I have witnessed that women #GameChangers within Brillio handle multiple tasks with professionalism and grace.

There is nothing better than putting the concept of work-life balance into practice, and this is what occurs within Brillio. Thank you to all of my women colleagues who #BetterTheBalance and inspire me to do the same.

Identify your Strengths to Transform into a Leader

As women, we often underestimate our potential and forget to realize it on a day-to-day basis. Winspire, Brillio’s women leadership development program, made me unleash my potential.

Winspire connected me with my colleagues from across teams and practices, internal Brillio leaders, and also with external leaders. During the program, we got to know how each of them overcame self-doubts and challenges at work and realized our potential to become the leaders we’re meant to be.

What I love about Brillio is that not only has it enabled my growth through the right program, but has, most importantly, provided me with a suitable workplace culture. My colleagues and my manager do not judge me as a mother who has come back to work after a gap, but consider me as any other deserving professional. Prior to joining Brillio, interviewers at other companies did not bother to know about my past entrepreneurial experience, but asked me about my child’s age and the time I would prefer to leave from work. While interviewing at Brillio, our CEO Raj Mamodia stressed more upon my role.

Since I joined Brillio, my journey has been amazing. I have received huge support from my team and my peers, namely, Sandhya Balakrishnan who works from our US office as a client partner. She is a great team member, ally and support system. We work hand-in-hand with regards to all the projects, which means that we celebrate the success of a project or shoulder the burden of setbacks together. We have an outcome-based approach towards work and outline our strategies along these lines.

Working at Brillio has helped me realize that we need to have clear decision-making capabilities, as this is not only important to #BetterTheBalance at the workplace but in life too. On that note, I engage in a few activities that help me stay stress-free and keep me motivated at work. One of them is Zumba, and the other is making crafts with my son. When it comes to maintaining a work-life balance, I get complete support from my coach and mentor, Yogesh Jain. If it had not been for the right kind of support from such amazing colleagues and champions, being a #GameChanger would not have been this easy.

Kudos to all those who are constantly changing the game for themselves and others. More power to you!

Diversity Underlines the Brillio Culture

The Brillio work culture provides all the Brillians with a platform to prove their merit, regardless of their gender, which means the organization does not support any unconscious bias. It’s a sense of pride that I have the opportunity to work with some fantastic women leaders in our team who have achieved great success at work while being equally invested in their family lives.

The first name that comes to my mind is Muthumari S. She has proven her excellence at work and outside of it while being a mother and this is really commendable. Muthu and I undertake a similar kind of work, but the fact that she also takes care of her family’s needs while doing a great job here is noteworthy.

Another example of a successful woman leader on my team is Uma Ramesh. Uma is not only a great leader to her team and a true professional, but also follows her passion for social welfare by being an active part of Brillio’s Bringing Smiles Program, one of our CSR initiatives. There is a lot to admire about her as a professional and as a person.

I like that Brillio maintains a gender balance and enables the growth of Brillians at all levels. Another example of a deserving leader who has mastered her role at Brillio is Sandhya Balakrishnan. With such great #GameChangers around me, I feel that Brillio is prepared to celebrate more success stories like these.
