There are moments when we ponder over situations that challenge our growth. But I feel lucky to have been able to face challenges head-on with confidence and with the support of people who matter to me. In my 12 years of work experience in the data and analytics domain, I have had many chances to prove my caliber. I have worked as a Director, managing a large team of 30 people, cracking deals worth millions. With all these good things going on, life brought me the best of all experiences, my child.
As a mother, I want to be present when my infant needs me. After a break from work, post-delivery I wanted to resume my career. I wanted to be part of a workplace that allows me the flexibility and space to be with my infant when required, and Brillio proved to be that place. During my interview at Brillio, I made a special mention about this requirement and to my surprise, Sindhu Subhashini, India HR Head, Brillio, returned with an offer to provide me a baby room within the office premises. As a mother of a ten-month old baby, this was the best thing that I could have received from an organization. Now, I can visit my son at least once during my workday.
While looking out for a job, I had three major objectives in mind- role within the data science domain, a flexible work culture, and scope for a leadership role. Brillio’s diverse and dynamic work culture has met all my expectations. My manager, Saurav Chakravorty, is very supportive and has helped me gain my confidence back. Recently, we have completed a significant project and I am glad I have had my family and my husband by my side besides my team members who have helped me walk my career path with ease. My husband takes care of my child when I am tied up with work. I am sure that there will be many great opportunities in the pipeline for me in the coming years at Brillio. All I can say is that the love I have for my family and my work has found importance in Brillio, and I am in the happiest space right now.
For any woman, who is trying to balance her personal and professional life, Brillio is the most accommodating workplace to be in. More power to every woman who is a #GameChanger and inspires others like her to do better.
I believe that we all need to learn how to work around obstacles when the outcome of a task is not as expected. I practice this at work as well as outside of it. At work, I have also noticed that women in my team do not let barriers stop them either. I believe that there is always the next step, and a way to move forward. Throughout my career, I have learned that no matter what obstacles come my way, they only help me grow as an individual and as a leader.
My objectives at work are always aligned with the goals of my team, and those goals of Brillio. The leadership team at Brillio empowers us to accomplish our goals by providing the right processes, tools, and infrastructure. I work with an amazingly talented team whom I feel privileged to work side-by-side with every day. Brillio has a diverse work culture, and I am proud to be a #GameChanger, and paving the way as a female leader.
Ideas, creativity, and brilliance should be attributed to women as much as their male counterparts. At Brillio, diversity plays a major role at all levels in bringing out the best in every person or process. The ecosystem Brillio provides for, enables flexibility and transparency within the teams. I don’t feel embarrassed when asking for help. This is the level of camaraderie we share with our colleagues and our managers here.
I have been fortunate with the support coming from the home front too. I am constantly encouraged by my husband, which drives me to do well at work, focus on the bigger picture and never get carried away by what others think.
As a young mother returning to the workplace after maternity leave, I had to face some different kind of challenges. Mine was a new role in a newly established practice; this meant I needed to learn a lot of new things and also unlearn some habits that I was conditioned to. While I was adjusting to the corporate set up again, I accommodated the needs of my baby. Eventually, I got an opportunity to win the trust of my team members and perform without any inhibitions.
At Brillio, the leadership is all ears, open to new ideas and cooperative. I would especially like to mention and thank Suraj for his motivation and regular feedback. Alongside, Winspire also played a great role in helping me challenge the status quo and think clearly. Our team is a mix of different mindsets with different priorities, and the magic happens when everyone agrees upon a common solution to a problem.
The Brillio culture is a reflection of the quote: ‘Be the change you want to see in the world’. This inspires me to be the #GameChanger who’s proactive, takes ownership of her decisions, and shows important traits of a leader. I believe that I am learning and improving every day to get there.
“Courage is like a muscle. We strengthen it by use.” — Ruth Gordo Life will throw obstacles on our path, and we cannot avoid them. During tough times I have seen that mental resolve and a tenacious attitude is what helps one reapply and carry on. This cannot come overnight, I do believe that building mental strength is a continuous process.
For me, I like strenuous physical endurance exercise and I try and train everyday pushing myself a bit more from the comfort zone, this is tough but works for me. At the end of a day’s work, it helps me in channeling my anger, sorrow, joy or frustration, it just makes me see the day objectively.
Hence most times I come out more determined and action oriented when am hit by setbacks. We as women face dilemmas every day, either at work or at home. What I’ve learned is - when things are not going your way, first protect what you have and then work harder, reapply or rework the plan. For me personally, I just put on my shoes and head out for a very long run over 10 Km. It helps to think objectively out of my comfort zone and when you come to a breaking point or at the verge of giving up it is when you carry on, its alright to stop or slow down but the difference is not quit or give up.
As a woman, I get inspired by others both at home and at the workplace. Each one of us has a story that keeps us going. One has to just look within and around.
When it comes to Brillio, we encourage open conversations that make even the most challenging of projects and situations easy and fun. In Brillio right from the first day that I took over the charter for UK, there was an opportunity to set my own game and take chances. Each one in Brillio team within their remit of work has freedom to think out of the box and apply themselves. I believe each one of us has an entrepreneurial mindset, all it needs is the opportunity to apply it honestly and diligently and Brillio amply provides the platform for people to create and execute these opportunities. I have personally experienced that right from the very top, the leadership is patient and supportive, this makes Brillio a modern workplace.
I believe if one wants to be helped, understood, appreciated and respected, it is important that we provide the same to the others first. This is true for all personal and professional relationships. One big mistake, we make is that we take these associations for granted and shy away from ownership of actions and outcomes. We women must not always accept but challenge our negative circumstances and that for me is a game changer.
If there is conviction around the choices you make, then nothing can stop you from climbing the success ladder. In order to put my conviction into the right path, I have always found immense support coming from my personal as well as professional networks.
The key reason why I have been with Brillio for the last five years is the diverse culture that demands everyone to constantly keep trying and moving forward, rather than ponder over the success or failure of past choices. This helps us come together and make authentic decisions at the workplace without following a set template or adhering to a pecking order.
I don’t believe in the concept of setback. I have been extremely fortunate all my life to have had choices to make (both, personally and professionally). I owe it to my parents, family and every colleague I work with. I believe that the outcome of every choice is an experience, a learning which helps us become our best versions. In analytics, we call it decision trees, so there is no concept of an outcome being a setback - it is always a step forward.
At Brillio, the leadership teams believe in erasing all sorts of biases at every level. We all benefit from such strong leadership endorsement that focuses on the inclusion of varied forms of thoughts coming from different domains. Brillio has some great examples of game changing leaders—men and women—who constantly foster a clear understanding of differences in thoughts; and enable our achievers to be self-aware and accommodating so that every #GameChanger can continue to deliver his or her best.
A few years back, my motivation was from inside. My work, my achievements, and the desire to do something good and different motivated me. Now that I am a mom, my motivation is outside me, in the form of my Son. Sometimes it is overburdening, but most of the time it is more encouraging. I know someone is always watching me, so I can’t quit doing my best. Looking at my reflection in my son motivates me even more.
Tell us your story on how is the life of a working mom and how, did you refresh your employability skills while getting back to work?
I remember the day I called my manager and told him I was planning to re-join in the month of April. He jokingly asked me, Archana do you remember what Permissions and Profiles is in Salesforce. At that time, we laughed aloud but then I got cold feet. Could I really recall what it is? Do I remember my laptop passwords? I will have a new team to manage, new projects, and new clients. How am I going to cope? Moreover, how will my baby live without me for 8-9 hours, most importantly how am I going to live without him. So many decisions I was questioning, questioning my decision to re-join, but I knew it would only get more difficult as time passed, so better that I face them now.
I decided to start slowly; working half a day from the office and the rest from home. I had my mom supporting me; my greatest strength. One thing I had promised myself was that being a mother is not going to stop me from accomplishing tasks in my professional life. I was still going be recognized for my dedication, work, and my confidence. At any cost I am not letting it go, it made a better version of me.
Before I joined, I made sure I could recall my password, and also completed some technical brushups so that I didn’t feel lost when I joined. From day one I was into my Role as PM. Balancing work and home is the most crucial part to do. To be very honest, my first month of work was very difficult, more difficult than I thought it was going to be. I had many sleepless night, countless breakdowns, and there was many times that I had to recollected myself and start from the beginning.. finding new hope and inspiration. Finally, I did it!
It’s still not that easy, as kids grow every day, there are different demands and different situations to handle, and as you move up the ladder in hierarchy there are more expectations from your organization. Managing it all can be tough, but I fight my battles one at a time; I make sure that office pressures don’t ruin my time with child nor do I let my struggles as a mother affect my productivity.
I choose going back to work at Brillio because I had worked with Brillio for about 6-8 months before I went on my maternity leave. The environment was always encouraging and open. It is like being at your second home, you are comfortable and can be yourself. The support from management and my team brought my confidence back with a bang. It was a home to me after coming back from a long break! When I was on my leave, people at Brillio connected with me to ask how I was doing and about my kid, they showed me the path and gave me the strength to return back to work.
At Brillio, my colleague friends and my leaders always support me. They boosting me up and remind me that I can do it. I receive unbiased feedback when I accomplish something, but also when I fail.
When I think of a Game Changer, I think of my Son. He is the biggest Game Changer; he challenges me and I challenge him… it's a win-win for both of us. I evolve as a better mother, not just because of him, but also because of the work that I do.
Over the last six years that I’ve been at Brillio have played a pivotal role in me becoming a better version of myself—both on the professional and personal front. With this growth have come bigger responsibilities. My present role demands efficient team and stakeholder management, and collaboration with various teams. Though this has not been very easy for me, during the course I have learned my lessons. One of them being— “Mistakes help us learn better, yet none should be repeated”
Last year Brillio showed me the way to the “Winspire – Women leadership Program”. This program has been highly effective in building my confidence and credibility. Alongside, my mentoring and coaching skills, decision-making capability, delegation competency, and emotional intelligence have improved which help me deal with setbacks very strategically.
Setbacks often disturb the equilibrium at work; sometimes affecting deliverables too. The two approaches I take to overcome any challenges are— “Vote your Voice” and “Vote your Foot”. I speak when and where required, be it my home or office.
I have realized that above all it’s important to understand the pros and cons of a decision. So, I usually discuss an issue with my well-wishers. I take pride in mentioning my manager and team members as my pillars of strength and for helping me align Brillio’s goals with mine. They guide me in prioritizing things on my plate and keep motivating me to do my best. We all collaborate to work towards a common goal.
On a personal level, I can count on my family for extended support. If I have been able to beat challenges at work, it is because my loved ones have been by my side during challenging times.
My leadership team adheres to Brillio’s “WE CARE” value and focuses primarily on the growth of every team member. My leaders show immense confidence in me, which has been effective in shaping me into a #GameChanger.
You can’t have everything you want, but you can have the things that really matters to you. And thinking that way empowers you to work really hard for a really long period of time.” -Marissa Mayer, president, and CEO of Yahoo
Sometimes work takes precedence over everything else in our lives. Our desire to succeed professionally can push us to set aside our well-being. In that situation, creating a work-life balance becomes very important to any individual, which is all about a mix of time management, commitment, and (most importantly) prioritization.
Like many other professionals, creating a work-life balance is something that has never been an easy task for me. On one hand, having a very busy career and on the other hand, being a wife and mom of a teenager is not simple. Over the years, life has taught me this lesson, that if you cannot keep a balance between the two, you will never be happy and enjoy life, and as a result, you will not be able to do justice with your work.
We are all unique and the term "personal life" means something different to everyone. To me, personal life means spending quality time with family, being there at times of need, and celebrating small events of life with the loved ones. I am in a role that is very demanding and requires juggling lots of responsibilities most of the time. At the same time, I want to be a “successful” mom as well as a “supporting” wife as well. In this situation, maintaining work-life balance becomes key to being a happy and cheerful person. Over and above, being a woman, I need some self-reflection moments to think about how I can juggle around.
Some of the tricks that I have learned in the last 20 years are:
Very often people ask me, how do you manage both fronts? My answer to them is “if you do a little planning and stay dedicated to your work, you can have time for your family and have a productive day as well. Love your work and do what you like to do, other things will fall into place automatically.
I have always been motivated by the desire to meet a deadline. Setting and reaching deadlines gives me a sense of accomplishment. I love creating an organized schedule for completing a task and achieving my goals on time. For example, I set multiple deadlines for a variety of tasks leading up to an event. Achieving each milestone motivates me to keep working and helps me ensure that everything runs smoothly.
When I was looking to go back to work after maternity leave, I was worried about leaving my baby and thought there wasn’t much support out there for moms, but I found it through the support of my husband and Brillians. I network with people in my field to stay informed, take relevant courses to upgrade my skills and knowledge, volunteer in areas that apply to my role, read appropriate publications, and attend conferences
I chose to come back to work at Brillio because I have to be super transparent with my team. They respect my schedule because they value that I need to go and take care of my kids. The team has supported me as and when required. A flexible work schedule is an absolute necessity for me, otherwise, I would burn out on both being a mom and a co-worker.
The biggest thing I’ve learned from having a career and from being a mom is the ability to be strong enough to say, “this is the life I want” and not feeling guilty for saying it. I know it’s easier said than done, right? But I have been able to do this by organizing my career in a way that doesn’t inflict on family life.
If you dream it, you can do it. We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things because we’re curious and curiosity leads us down new paths. All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them. Brillio's diverse and dynamic work culture has met all my expectations; the support from my fellow Brillians has enabled me to build a successful career.
My strong believe in the thought that "A little extra step will always add additional beauty to our lives" motivates me to explore every new opportunity in the organization beyond my work and these opportunities certainly prove that I can be trainer of a skill. I work and volunteer for tech meet ups, volunteer for Bringing Smile initiatives, WOW circle SPOC, and as an in-house YOGA trainer. My strength comes from listening to motivational speeches, which in turn helped me to start my journey as motivational writer.
I believe volunteering is a noble action, so I enjoy the initiatives of the Bringing Smiles Program, such as phone mentoring, skill-based volunteering, the National STEM program, organizing children's day celebrations, etc. In return for all of this, I get to smile all the time. "A smile delivered to the needy is the guaranteed smile that we get back.” WOW circle initiatives allow me to talk to women leaders and get the ideas for the overall upliftment of women. These women ignited dreams in me that I can achieve more. Being emotionally balanced, estimating targets with practical views, breaking down tasks into small pieces, and targeting these to achieve each piece has best helped me to win the game of work-life balance over the period.
The opportunity to be a trainer of the tool I use not only gave me confidence, but also opened the gate for me to be the analytics SPOC for Bringing Smiles. This keeps my hunger to read and write motivational content alive. WOW circle volunteering allowed me to interact with amazing peers and inspired me to become an in-house YOGA trainer. B-Fit Brillians helped me share my views on mental and physical fitness. Now, when I look back at my journey with Brillio, every single opportunity connected the dots of spirituality, technicality, physicality, and mentality. The whole brained approach helped in my overall development and helped me become the person as I am now.
Brillio’s culture allowed me to experience core values like we care. I was able to become excelled in my skill through amazing leaders like Muthu and Ashish, who uplifted me to be tenacious despite initial challenges. My entire Aruba team (Adhiraj, Prasenjit, Raja, Amit, Natesh, Subham, Sarthak, Avishek, Dhanesh) has been a blessing and their prompt help was important, as my entire day used to be with these group. In my world of CSR activities, Meghana, Ramasubramaniam, and Abhishek remain all time rock stars and motivators. I also want to thank Dinesh, this journey without your cooperation and aid would not have been possible.
At an early age my grandfather taught me the importance of financial independence and growth. He told me there is no budget when it comes to knowledge, so he bought me books and inspired me to be the best version of myself that I could be. The incessant need to grow and build a life for myself, along with the principal of financial independence is what keeps me driven. For it does not evade me for one second how several women lack this independence and security in today's age.
One thing I have learned about being a working mom is that there is no set formula. As Shonda Rhimes said, “there is no such thing as work-life balance. It was a concept created to make women feel miserable, so the best way is figuring it out as you go along the journey and be gentle towards yourself.” I became a mother in 2020, a year where I was quite restricted when it came to getting help or family over from India. What I have learned has been from scratch. Thankfully, I now have a system that helps me and my son, but this came with a lot of sweat and agitation, and was one of the hardest things I had to do/learn. Luckily, as a woman who is a mother, we automatically have a PHD in multitasking.
If you track my journey within Brillio, I started off as Senior Consultant then became a Regional Leader; which has been instrumental in building with Brillio. It is this constant upward movement that inspires me to go to work every day. Working with Raj has taught me skills and values that no business school could educate me on. His dedication and “no-excuses" mindset truly set me up for success. What I love about Brillio is its resilience despite the sordid year that the world encountered; Brillio continued marching in forward motion. It is this momentum-based attitude that encouraged me to not dwell on setbacks because how can you when everything is moving at warp speed.
I was invited into a very welcoming and diverse culture when Cognetik integrated with Brillio at the beginning of 2021. I became a better leader with the new interactions with my team/colleagues. Daily, they teach me that we are all so diverse and different, and that we have so much to learn from one another – this never ceases to amaze me.
I am very grateful that the Brillio culture and leadership encourages us to be real, honest, and be our true selves at work without the fear of being judged or pointed at if we make mistakes. The support from Brillio enables us to be self-aware and that is the secret to continuous improvement because it allows you understand what areas you need to work on and from there you can start acting accordingly.
I firmly believe that the future belongs to those who won't stop learning, so what keeps me going is my desire to learn and share my knowledge. One of my dreams is to have my own Data Academy so I can coach others on how to advance in their data-related careers. As for areas of interest beyond work I really enjoy learning about art, Interior Design and Fashion.
The quote, "Heavy is the head the wears the crown," makes me remember the struggles I had to overcome, and the fact that I had to put in triple the work in order to achieve a mentor/manager role so early in my career. This had a significant impact over my work-life balance, but I learned that for me, the best way to pause everything is to either play boardgames with my family/close friends or to travel often.
My Game Changers: I like to think that every person I have ever met, regardless of if we have only spoken once, or if they have been by my side for more than 4 years- these people have left their mark on my life. The real game changers for me have been my mentors - the people who believed in me more than I did myself, and who guided me to where I am right now. My family, of course, have also been major game changers in my life.
"This too shall pass" - Cherish the good things as they won't last forever. Endure the hardships as those will surely pass also. Be appreciative of what life provides in this very moment.
Nowadays I think that everyone strives for balance - work and personal life. Feeling empowered and living your best life is not about taking the shortcut but embracing obstacles and learning from every experience.
A whole life is also comprised of challenging moments. And that is OK. Emphasizing here that it's OK to lose yourself to find yourself. Nobody has the perfect recipe, but if you reflect on where you are now in your life and are happy, that is enough because things constantly change, as they should.
So, given that change is constant, like many other professionals, staying on top of things requires continuous growth and continuous learning. The best way to learn is from each other. I always seek the best in people. In every interaction, there is something to learn - about others or yourself. Sometimes there is also a lesson learned on what not to do, and that is OK too, but each experience we have changes us, ideally for the better.
I have worn many professional hats, and the common denominator with everything that I've accomplished in the last ten years has been working with people. Most of my growth as a person is due to paying attention to others and myself. I think that actively listening to the people around me has allowed me to develop a mindset of how to help more, seek to define structures for identifying and reducing blockers, respond to needs, and make things better.
If there were a universal plan of how to be content with your life, I would identify the steps as:
There isn't a rule book, but I believe that it's essential to know that you did the best you could with what you had at the end of each day.
Be a disciplined rebel - question everything, strive for more. Aim at continuous improvement and unleashing the best version in everything you experience. #Gamechangers never settle.
My friends and family are who motivate me and keep me going in life. I want to be the best, most authentic version of myself both inside and outside of the workplace. I love to energetically “show up” for the people that depend on me – that care and that responsibility is the huge driving force in how I treat others, how I conduct my work, and my ‘why’ I believe I am not here to make someone’s life experience more challenging - teamwork makes the dreamwork.
This ties into why I continue at Brillio. I love the passion, pace, and growth opportunity at Brillio – I choose to keep growing my career with this organization given how empowered we are made to feel. Brillio’s entrepreneurial culture is the perfect environment that enables me to bring my vision to reality – when vision becomes value, that is where the magic happens.
Having a good support system is important in my personal and career growth. I am lucky to have fantastic, supportive friends and family in my corner that are great sounding boards and encouragers. By operating with respect, positivity, and an unreasonable focus on serving our business, I’ve cultivated some great friendships here at Brillio. What is better than working with people you enjoy, and accomplishing great things together?
The Brillio culture, leadership, and my team inspires me to be a #GameChanger. Brillians are winners – dedicated to always finding the best path forward to unlock new growth for our business and ultimately, our clients. I came to Brillio to play an integral role in our future the best way that I know how: marketing. We are just scraping the surface here at Brillio, and I’m taking steps to change the game every day.
What keeps me going in my daily life outside of work is my love for travelling and learning about different cultures. From a very young age I dreamt of travelling the world. I then read the book, “The Secret,” by Rhonda Byrne, which taught me the power of positive thinking. It changed my outlook towards life and helped me save money in order to travel to around 16 countries in just a few years. At Brillio, I have received support that helps me balance my work-life along with my insatiable thirst for travelling. Recently, during the pandemic through our WOW fitness initiatives, I have also discovered a love for yoga and the positivity it brings to my life. It helps me stay fit and focused on my work.
The Brillio WOW program enables me to work hard and keep pushing. Our diversity and inclusion team ensures that we take care of our wellbeing, mind, and health, while overcoming work pressures. I look forward to Fridays when we come together as a group and spend time meditating, playing games, and sharing stories with each other. This helps us uplift and inspire each other as women. The Brillio ONE approach—Open to all cultures, Neutral to all genders & generations, and Equal opportunity to all gives every Brillian a platform to grow with Brillio, with a healthy and happy mindset. It remains one of my best decisions in life to join Brillio, as during my MBA I wanted to become a transformational leader of the future and this place and team gives you all the accelerators to be a leader who will bring in change.
The Brillio value of being “Entrepreneurial” in your ways of working, while ensuring that you also give back to society with the “We Care” value are my biggest career anchors. My team and my mentors, Mr. Chander Damodaran and Mr. Suman Kuppuswamy, have created a team environment focusing on the Fail Fast Approach, which enables us to drive our learnings faster so that we can grow and learn from our setbacks and be a #GameChanger.
The whole brained approach has helped me grow as a person. It has helped me in my decision-making abilities when things become uncertain or volatile—helping me take a different approach in my daily ways of working so that I can tackle any unforeseen challenges that come my way. This approach has also enabled me to be an active team listener and collaborator.
My grandmother, with her progressive thoughts even at the age of 85, has been a tremendous driving force in molding me into the person I am today. As a child, she taught me the importance of girls becoming financially independent and taking a stand in society. She has always encouraged me to grow the wings that she never could due to lack of opportunity and societal support during her ages. She is the real #GameChanger in my life.
I love the phrase 'keep calm and carry on', everything will eventually work out, and time fixes most things.
I have always loved technology and enjoyed learning about science in general, but what truly gets me excited is how technology changes people's lives and transforms companies. As for work, I have always been excited about the enterprise itself. More specifically, how technology can be applied to large businesses and change how companies work with their customers, create value, or become more efficient in their areas. It is the reach and scale of the enterprise and how it touches millions of people that is motivating.
Early in my career, I became a member of a group of women that work in the same industry. There are 5 of us that meet regularly and motivate each other. We have been together for over 20 years. We offer support when times are challenging, ideas for career growth and change, exchange funny stories and motivate each other when needed. Often, I'm asked to share ideas for success, and I always suggest that women should find a 'tribe' of like-minded women and create an informal professional group.
So far, during my time with Brillio, my managers have given me enough guidance to get going in my new role, and the autonomy to make decisions for the business and my team as I think it's best.
I like to spend my free time choosing a new hobby or area of interest and then pursuing it until I feel like I am good enough to enjoy it. I don’t have to master the field, but I like to be good enough not to get frustrated. As I am writing this, I am resuming golfing, after I've spent the summer taking golf lessons and playing golf regularly.
At this point in my life, I feel I have learned a good lesson, which is:
Everyone does their best work when they do it their way. Not everyone is going to approach life or work the same way I do, and people are at their best when they have the freedom to do it in a way that works for them.
As professional and personal life momentum picked up, realizing there will always be more to do than ever get done helped me prioritize what matters the most. During my daughter's formative years, I never wanted to miss out on something I could never get back, which meant I had to say 'no' to some things. Differentiating with a crystal ball vs a rubber ball mindset provided the mechanism to manage a diverse set of challenges.
Having a spiritual outlook towards life, helping people to cope with and bounce back from difficult situations, adding value with empathy, always fills me with great positivity and zeal. Volunteering for Bringing Smiles: eVidyaloka - to make a difference in rural children's skills - provided immense satisfaction in giving back to society.
I believe that planning is the starting point for successful outcomes. Thinking through the art of possibilities and laying out an action plan to embrace and navigate through ambiguities helps me approach the decision path with purpose.
The uplifting influence of my parents, their display of values in critical situations, the outlook towards widening the horizon by reading books have instilled lasting curiosity and creativity in me. For me, family is my backbone for constant unlearning and relearning to be on top of personal & professional aspirations.
Our CEO, Raj's compelling vision for Brillio, his constant enthusiasm & belief in shaping up values & actions to propel Brillio's mission, his ability to pass on momentum to everyone in the organization to give more of themselves, are very influencing & contagious. This fuels me to push boundaries, unlock possibilities in every engagement for moving the needle, be ambitious, and demonstrate self-leadership to achieve & excel in all circumstances.
I believe in having a positive attitude in anything you do. Always remember no one is perfect, we all learn from previous mistakes. Just make sure lessons are learned and avoid committing the same mistakes twice. Work-life balance is crucial for any individual, and balancing both is a form of art. If you enjoy what you do, you'll never feel that work is stressful. That's what I always look for: to have passion for what I do.
Hitting the gym regularly always refills my energy, easing out stress with enjoyable HIIT sessions. It gives me a chance to look in the mirror and push myself to do it, both in sport and at work.
We always need to set goals for ourselves and strive to get there. There will always be hurdles and setbacks, but it's all about how you overcome them. Know your strengths and work on your weaknesses. Strive to be a better version of yourself, constantly learn something new, keep your ears open, have confidence that there's always someone there to listen and help you. For me, the definition of a leader is a simple, humble individual, who sets an example and is an inspiration to others.
I believe everyone you meet has something to teach you. Good people will teach you what you could be and the qualities to aspire to and enact both personally and professionally, while others will show you what you should not be in life.
I joined Brillio on March-21, and one of the things I really like is the open-door policy. Many times I've seen people step forward to help you when you are stuck. For example, I was asked to drive a project on my third day on the job. The project was out of my comfort zone and challenging in multiple ways, including technology and the timeline to deliver the project. However, the amazing support from the team and management enabled me to successfully deliver the project on time, giving me the confidence to drive such projects and deliver many others.
The desire to do better every day keeps me going in life. Coming from a humble upbringing, it was of the utmost importance to me to build a career and be financially independent. While the needs have changed over the years, my core belief remained that when what you do becomes a meditation, a way of life, there is no stopping you, and you would only excel. I have traversed multiple career tracks and have taken challenging roles that make me better every day.
I am very connected to nature. All the elements of nature inspire and amaze me. To stay focused, whether it's snowing, raining, or a sunny day, even a simple walk outside rejuvenates me. Nature is filled with so many unknowns. It feeds my mind with a booster shot every time I step outside.
I consciously developed diversity in thinking and the confidence to question the status quo. I have moved horizontally in my career journey and explored various roles in Human Resources, Sales, Customer Success, and now Sales Operations and Excellence. When you move out of your comfort zone and strive to achieve excellence, you automatically develop skills that not only help you as an individual but also as a leader, in your personal life and your professional career.
I owe a lot to my parents, in-laws, friends, my husband, and my daughter. While my parents and in-laws supported me in my personal life when I needed it the most, my husband and daughter constantly challenged me to be better and do more. My family genuinely believes that I have only explored the tip of the iceberg and have a lot to discover in my career.
Over the years, Brillio has become an integral part of my life. I have had an opportunity to explore every role I aspired to play. If there is one thing that differentiates Brillio from all my previous employers, it is the “Opportunity”. I am fortunate to have worked with leaders who bring different perspectives, expertise and continue to make Brillio's culture richer and better. Brillio truly demonstrates that 'We Care', and Raj’s vision of a great company keeps me going.
